Stephen King says, “Books are a uniquely portable magic.” Writing a book can seem daunting. But every unforgettable work starts with the first words. I help authors write their magic—the book of their dreams. Don’t let that blank page (or screen) scare you. I can show you fun techniques to get the words out of your head and onto paper. As a nonfiction book editor, I have been editing first-time authors (including Holocaust survivors, cops, a bank robber, lawyers, a rock groupie, a real Top Gun, wildly successful entrepreneurs, CEOs, and ordinary people with extraordinary stories to tell). Sometimes a writer needs a critique (and that’s not your mother, spouse, or best friend). I will guide you through the process from Introduction to Resources, and we’ll work through word choice, punctuation, paragraphing, and titling. And if you need beta reading, my process finds likely target readers, a jury of your peers, and we ask them directed questions to guide your revision. I work with authors who are writing on business/leadership, health, self-help, and true crime topics specifically. I’ve even written and published four books myself including the award-winning Cover to Cover: What First-Time Authors Need to Know about Editing (contact me for a free copy). I teach popular continuing education classes at a community college on how to write, publish, and market a book. I judge books for national awards, and I am a member of a number of professional editing and publishing organizations. My presentations on editing for Women in Publishing and Medium Day 2023 were well attended and delightfully received. I love working with first-time authors. Aren't we all?

Find your dream assistant now

This is such a needed service for authors. I've used VA/PA services from other well-known freelance platforms, but they can be overwhelming and daunting. Looking for an assistant who has some knowledge of the author world (such as Bookbub Ads) is like looking for a needle in a haystack with these larger platforms.

I had been dragging my feet on hiring a more permanent VA/PA for so long because I didn't want to have to deal with looking through that proverbial haystack, but Busy Bee makes it so easy to find the assistant you need for the work you need as an author. Thank you, Brian!!
